The film tells the story of Janardhan Jakhar (Ranbir Kapoor), a college student who dreams of becoming a rockstar, but faces many obstacles in his journey. He falls in love with Heer Kaul (Nargis Fakhri), a Kashmiri girl who is engaged to someone else, and their relationship inspires him to create soulful music.
